Three months after his departure from Stoke City, Lee Darnbrough has been appointed as Port Vale’s new head of recruitment.
Last summer, Darnbrough was recruited from Hull to manage Stoke’s transfer activities. However, he departed shortly after the January transfer window, during which new manager Mark Robins made only two loan signings.
After achieving promotion from the lowest division, he is now back at work and has teamed up with Darren Moore across the city to prepare for a season in League One.

In an interview for Port Vale TV today, Moore stated: “Lee is a senior head of recruitment, bringing with him a vast amount of experience. I have known Lee for a long time since we worked together at West Brom. He is someone I have maintained contact with over the years as we have held various roles at different clubs.

“Having him on board makes me very, very happy. It has been discussed for a while, so it is not a knee-jerk reaction. While we are endeavoring to create a team on the pitch, we are also working on establishing the structural foundations of a football club, which is crucial.
