Ex-Town Defender Tuanzebe Suing Manchester United

Axel Tuanzebe, a former Manchester United defender, is suing the team for allegedly providing careless medical advice.

Last week, the 27-year-old, who joined Burnley earlier this month, filed a lawsuit against United in the High Court.

It concerns an unidentified injury that occurred in July 2022 and is regarded as a high value claim, meaning it is worth more than £1 million.

Prior to being loaned to Stoke in January 2023, when he made just five appearances, Tuanzebe missed 195 days of action during his final season with the team.

He made his debut for the team in 2017 after joining at the age of eight. He played 37 games there before departing in the summer of 2023 to sign a free agent contract with Ipswich that September.

The 2021 Europa League final loss to Villarreal was the right-back’s final game for United, when he scored in the shootout as the team lost 11–10 on penalties.

The right-back led United at every level. In addition to spending time at Napoli in 2022, the former England Under-21 player, who currently plays for DR Congo, had three stints on loan with Aston Villa.

When contacted by BBC Sport, both United and Tuanzebe’s attorneys, Simons Muirhead Burton, declined to comment.
