Exclusive: As allegations of a transfer hijack surface, Ipswich Town is favoured to complete a “big coup” deal.

Despite the midfielder’s apparent transfer to Turkish powerhouse Besiktas, Ipswich Town has been advised to re-sign him this summer due to late developments.

Last season, when the Tractor Boys were demoted from the top division, the 25-year-old Swedish international made 30 appearances and scored one goal during his loan stint at Portman Road.

Cajuste’s popularity among Town supporters is demonstrated by the fact that Liam Delap defeated him by just 36 votes to win the Supporters Player of the Year title.

When Besiktas and Napoli reached an agreement for a €1 million loan contract with a €6.5 million buyout option that becomes required if he plays 15 games, his immediate future seemed to be secured.

However, because Cajuste has not yet granted his final consent for the move to Istanbul, the transfer has been stopped. According to reports, the player is weighing his options, and Ipswich is trying to sabotage the deal at the last minute.

Cajuste is the ideal Championship addition, according to Lee Hendrie.

Jens Cajuste at Ipswich Town

As Kieran McKenna’s team gets ready for life again in the second division, former Aston Villa player Lee Hendrie says it will be obvious to sign Cajuste. He made this statement in an exclusive interview with FLW.

“I do think this would be a big coup for Ipswich,” Hendrie said to FLW.

“I think anyone that has had a taste of Premier League football which he has, you know, and following a journey of them obviously getting relegated into the championship and knowing you have to take that step down.”

Speaking on the significance of luring players with Premier League experience, the Sky Sports analyst said, “I think if you can attract and bring in players of that calibre there’s no doubt that he’ll be a fabulous signing for Ipswich.”

“He’s got bags of potential, 25 years of age, and you know he’s already had a taste of playing in an Ipswich Town shirt.”

Cajuste became an integral part of McKenna’s system while he was at Portman Road, most notably as a defensive midfielder. He is a desirable candidate to re-sign because of his age, potential, and top-level experience with them.

The possible deal between Ipswich Town and Napoli could suddenly appear different.

General view of Portman Road

The financial structure of any possible purchase will undoubtedly be a major deal-breaker for Ipswich.

With their Premier League membership gone, the club must now negotiate fresh conditions for a player they obviously value, since part of their initial loan arrangement with Napoli contained an obligation to buy for €13.5 million if they escaped relegation.

With a €1 million loan fee and a €6.5 million buy option, Besiktas’ suggested agreement provides a more cost-effective option than their initial conditions. If Town can equal or somewhat improve upon the Turkish team’s offer, it may work in their benefit.

Cajuste’s next decision will undoubtedly affect both teams’ preparations as the summer window goes on. Securing his signing once more would be a declaration of purpose for Ipswich to get promoted back to the top right away.

Hendrie‘s support is significant, and his assessment that Cajuste would be a “fabulous signing” is indicative of the player’s skill and potential contribution in a lower-level environment.

Whether the Suffolk team can effectively snoop on Besiktas’ move and persuade Cajuste to return to Portman Road for another season may depend on the events over the next few days or weeks.
