Exclusive: Bournemouth’s Iraola wrong in surprise claim on Aston Villa ace Ramsey

The 23-year-old can’t complain about being fired late in that game, the former PGMOL chief and former FIFA official exclusively told Football Insider.
On Saturday, May 10, Aston Villa defeated Bournemouth 1-0 at the Vitality Stadium to increase their chances of making it into the Champions League this year.
After Tyrone Mings elbowed Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott early on, the visitors were fortunate not to be down a man.
On the cusp of halftime, however, they would take the lead as Ollie Watkins broke Aston Villa’s Premier League scoring record.
Even though Ramsey was sent off with ten minutes of regular time left, that was sufficient to win the match.

After reacting angrily to a challenge in the first half and bringing down David Brooks during the counterattack, the winger was given a second yellow card by referee Stuart Attwell.
Bournemouth manager Iraola had stated after the game that he did not believe the Aston Villa player should have received a second booking for that challenge.Hackett though, believes that Ramsey was always going to find himself being sacked in the circumstances.
After being asked by Football Insider what he thinks of the decision to send the winger off and those comments by Iraola, Hackett said:
In actuality, you have to hold back on that kind of challenge if you’ve already been given a yellow card.
“He successfully tripped the player and prevented a good attack, which is a yellow card offence. I realize it’s tough for a player.
The result is red, so it may appear harsh. However, it’s Stuart Attwell, and I don’t believe he’s given the referee any leeway to genuinely not give a yellow.
“He is the referee on the list who consistently applies the rules; I have witnessed him use a yellow card to punish these kinds of offenses throughout his career.
“So, if you’re the manager of Bournemouth, you should have researched the referee. If you’re a player with a yellow card, don’t make such a stupid challenge.”
Ramsey won’t play for Aston Villa until Friday, May 16, when they meet Tottenham at Villa Park.
This loss delivered a setback to Bournemouth’s ambitions of qualifying for Europe; they will play again on the road against Man City on Tuesday, May 20.
