Exclusive; Frank Lampard didn’t want to leave Coventry but was willing to join Southampton’s big project if they came calling for him

The Arsenal outcome will be over in a few hours, and attention will turn to Will Still’s statement. Since the competition for Southampton’s management position has been going on for months, Will Still’s win also seems to resonate with Saints supporters.

It’s difficult to keep track of how many tacticians Southampton approached for the position and ultimately turned them down. At the end of the day, I’m sure no fan would hate those sentiments, but don’t certain fair play gestures usually stick out?

One such elegant Englishman, both on and off the field, is Frank Lampard. He was accustomed to receiving accolades from football fans as a Three Lions midfielder, and his responses to finishing lower than Will Still will undoubtedly win over the hearts of the St. Mary’s supporters.

Lampard’s respectful gesture will entice Southampton fans

Lampard was also viewed as an outside favorite to head Southampton, in case you forgot. The Premier League legend made sure he didn’t come off as unprofessional or like a disgruntled loser to his present employers, Coventry City, even if it’s not happening.

Journalist Graeme Bailey reiterated Lampard’s opinions, stating: “He’s not pushing for every single job or anything,” according to the EFL Analysis. I believe that his staff were considering Southampton since it was a respectable opportunity.

Southampton has already ended their managerless era, and Lampard himself intends to do even better in the Championship. The Saints’ next big thing is player sales, but some of the deals are really out of line with reasonable prices.

Don’t worry, Southampton supporters; there may be a Will Still-style, astute transfer window chance waiting for the Saints to seize.
