Exclusive: How much Man City could pay to sign Rayan Ait-Nouri as they close in on deal to sign Wolves star

TBR Football can exclusively reveal how much Manchester City could pay to sign Rayan Ait-Nouri as they look set to sign the Algerian international.

Manchester City has been interested in Ait-Nouri and conducted background checks in May to see if he would be a good fit for their team. However, Wolves were willing to extend Ait-Nouri’s contract, which expires next year. However, it appears that the former Angers defender may be moving to the Etihad Stadium soon.

Man City could sign Rayan Ait-Nouri for £45 million

Manchester City could sign Rayan Ait-Nouri for £45 million, according to TBR Football’s chief correspondent Graeme Bailey.

Hugo Viana, City’s Sporting director, is a fan of Ait-Nouri and the club was looking to improve their full-back position this summer.

Graeme Bailey revealed: “As we reported at the beginning of May, Manchester City began substantial work on Ait-Nouri around the end of the season. Hugo Viana is said to be a great supporter of him and believes he has the potential to make a significant impact at City.

“The entire back area is a source of concern, and they want to address it. Nico O’Reilly and Rico Lewis filled in during the season, although the club does not consider Josko Gvardiol is a real left-back.

Sky Blues target Milos Kerkez wants to join Liverpool while Andrea Cambiaso, who Manchester City were interested in signing are two players who they believe are not better possibilities than Ait-Nouri.

Graeme Bailey remarked, “They did work on Milos Kerkez, and as we know, Juventus’ Andrea Cambiaso is someone they liked as well, but City believe that Ait-Nouri is the best option for them moving forward. According to sources, Wolves are aiming for roughly £45 million for Ait-Nouri, which is similar to the sum Liverpool will pay for Kerkez.

Man City’s most expensive defenders of all time

For £45 million, Ait-Nouri could be a bargain for Manchester City.

The Wolves technician is only 23, but he has Premier League experience and is tactically versatile, able to play as a regular left-back, wing-back, and inverted full-back.

If Ait-Nouri joins Manchester City, he will be their seventh most expensive defensive signing.

MANCHESTER CITY’S MOST EXPENSIVE DEFENDERS FEE
JOSKO GVARDIOL £77.6m
RUBEN DIAS £65m
JOAO CANCELO £60m
AYMERIC LAPORTE £57m
BENJAMIN MENDY £52m

RAYAN AIT-NOURI (IF HE SIGNS) £45m

While Aymeric Laporte, Joao Cancelo, and Josko Gvardiol all proven to be superb additions since City spent the money to bring them in.
