Huddersfield Town’s pursuit of a promotion-contending squad continues under new manager Lee Grant, with Stoke City striker Nathan Lowe emerging as a major target.
Over the weekend, reports suggested that the Terriers were ready to test Stoke’s resolve with a £2.5 million proposal, but new evidence raises doubts over whether a deal will be completed.
Stoke unwilling to sell Lowe – for now
According to the Stoke Sentinel, the Potters are not willing to sell Lowe until the 2025/26 season.
The 19-year-old will remain a member of Mark Robins’ pre-season squad, hoping to play a bigger role after making only five starts in the second half of the previous season.

This development contradicts previous statements by The Sun’s Alan Nixon, who said that Huddersfield were close to matching Stoke’s £2.5 million value and were in talks about bonus terms.
While Huddersfield’s interest persists, it looks Lowe will be evaluated during the pre-season and is not now available for sale or loan.
Lee Hendrie: Lowe would be a “spot on” signing for Town
Despite Stoke’s unwillingness to go with the striker, Sky Sports analyst Lee Hendrie feels a transfer to the John Smith’s Stadium would benefit all parties.
When asked exclusively by Football League World whether Lowe would be a good addition for the Terriers, Hendrie reacted positively.
“Huddersfield seem to be splashing the cash, looking at Nathan Lowe, who was outstanding at Walsall, he really showed his potential,” Hendrie told the Football League Weekly.

“He demonstrated his ability to perform at League Two level, and he was a game changer for Walsall. I believe Huddersfield would be a wonderful fit for him. £2.5 million does not appear to be a large sum of money, and Huddersfield will be among the favourites to be promoted given their current business.
He said, “I think that it would be an absolutely spot on signing for them.”
Lowe’s breakout season at Walsall
The teenager burst onto the scene in the first half of last season while on loan at League Two club Walsall, scoring 18 goals and providing seven assists in 30 appearances before being recalled by Stoke in January.
| Nathan Lowe’s Walsall statistics | |
|---|---|
| Appearances | 30 |
| Starts | 25 |
| Goals | 18 |
| Assists | 7 |
His return failed to deliver consistent minutes, with only 467 minutes of Championship football under his belt following the recall. However, it is expected that under Robins’ leadership, Lowe could play a more important role next term.
Huddersfield’s ambitious window continues
Huddersfield have already signed six players this summer, including Ryan Ledson, Marcus Harness, and Joe Low, with another striker still firmly on the wishlist. Lowe, considered as a high-potential target, meets the description.

The Terriers reportedly paid a similar price to recruit Ethan Galbraith from Leyton Orient and have plenty of attacking alternatives, but a consistent striker remains crucial to their promotion chances.
It’s unclear whether Stoke’s stance will change later in the window. For the time being, Huddersfield may have to shift their focus elsewhere, but their interest in Lowe is unlikely to fade.
