Exclusive: Huddersfield win rivals in the trade battle to sign 21-year old star – highest bidder

According to unique information obtained by Football League World, Huddersfield Town has joined Bolton Wanderers in the competition to recruit Crystal Palace custodian Owen Goodman.

The 21-year-old goalie, a former England youth international, played on loan for AFC Wimbledon during the 2024–25 season. At the age of 17, Goodman signed his first professional deal with Crystal Palace in July 2021, however he hasn’t yet made an Eagles first-team appearance.

Huddersfield Town is one of the EFL teams vying for Crystal Palace custodian Owen Goodman, according to unique information obtained by Football League World. The remarkable young goalie hopes to establish himself at a higher level of EFL football the following season, therefore FLW is aware that this would be a loan agreement.

The starting position at both Huddersfield and Bolton for 2025–2026 appears to be available, therefore both teams’ goalkeeping positions are a little uncertain.

After the 2024–2025 season ended, Chris Maxwell retired from the Terriers. However, with 23 League One games between him and 24-year-old Chapman, veteran custodian Nicholls didn’t have his greatest season wearing a Town shirt last season. Regarding Bolton, Schumacher’s goalkeeping choices are somewhat limited as a result of the previously reported departure of Baxter to Watford.
