Exclusive: Ipswich Town star tipped to leave Portman Road as new 8-figure claim is made.
Goodman believes that Delap’s £30 million price tag will attract a large number of suitors because it represents such good value.
He praised the 22-year-old for being a bright spark in Ipswich’s campaign and expects the release clause to be paid.
Goodman exclusively told Football League World that Liam Delap is a player who Ipswich may struggle to retain.
“So, if it is public knowledge that the buyout is £30 million, I believe there will be several clubs, both domestic and international, willing to pay that amount.
“And because of that, he would be a good signing for anyone, literally, given the price tag.
“Let’s be clear: even if he went somewhere and it didn’t work out, they’d probably get a good chunk of that £30 million back for him.

“It’s one of those transfers where you don’t know until they arrive.
“When you look at Ipswich’s transfers this last season you could argue he’s one of the very, very few that have been anywhere near a good signing for value.”
Ipswich are set for relegation to the Championship after being promoted from the Premier League in 2024.
Delap will depart Ipswich this summer.
Delap’s goal scoring record and £30 million release clause make it far more likely that he will leave Ipswich rather than stay.
He has performed admirably in light of the club’s Premier League struggles.
A move to Chelsea or Manchester United would be a step forward, though either environment may not be what he is looking for at this point in his career.
Both clubs have proven to be difficult places to move to in recent years, and he should have plenty of other options in the Premier League or abroad to consider instead.
