Exclusive: Middlesbrough ace who has ‘fire’ set to join Bolton on season-long loan despite top flight interest

Bolton Wanderers have had an extremely underwhelming start to the season in League One, with their inability to turn draws into wins proving a major issue.

The Trotters have four draws from six games, with one win coming at home against Plymouth Argyle, who are battling at the bottom of the division.

Nonetheless, they have drawn their previous four third-tier games 1-1, and adding more firepower to the front line is critical if the Greater Manchester club is to climb the table in the coming weeks and months.

Bringing in players from the league above is critical for Bolton’s success, and they are close to acquiring a new attacking player from Middlesbrough.

Marcus Forss’ Middlesbrough career looks to be all but over

Middlesbrough have had an outstanding start to the season, with Rob Edwards’ team still the only EFL club with a perfect record.

Forss, Boro’s success may mean a permanent departure in the future, especially because the new head coach does not view him as part of his long-term plans, and Bolton will be eager to provide the forward a new home.

He made 24 Championship appearances last season and scored once, against Stoke City in February. Following the game, Michael Carrick said of the Finland international (via Teesside Live): “It’s the little things, knowing what he’s excellent at. He has a little bit about him in the previous week or so; he had a touch of fire about him, and I just thought he’d look good today.

“That’s why we have the squad, and I keep discussing it. There’s no use in me talking about the squad and how amazing it is until we use it, and it worked beautifully tonight.”
