Hendrie thinks Mbengue might be the kind of addition QPR needs to make this summer in order to keep improving as a team.
Based on his performances for Reading last season, he has stated that the defender would be a fantastic addition to the team.
Hendrie told Football League World exclusively, “I think, again, the way QPR went about using a lot of their younger players and I think the season they had last season they showed they were capable of competing compared to previous seasons.”
“I do believe that it is a good idea to bring in defensive players, but I don’t think they currently have the funds to go out and throw a lot of money at players.”
Therefore, I do believe it is essential for them to bring in players at reasonable prices so they aren’t overcommitting.
“And I believe he would be a fantastic addition to QPR.”
Despite the club’s internal turmoil, Reading almost missed out on a play-off spot previous season, while QPR, led by Martí Cifuentes, finished 15th in the Championship.
This might be a very wise business move for QPR this summer, considering the possible cost of the transaction.
According to reports, Julien Stephan will take over as head coach, and if they want to improve on their 15th-place result from the previous season, they will need defensive reinforcements.
Mbengue has previously gained Championship experience from his time with the Royals and has shown good performance in League One.
Clever initiatives like this could help QPR stay competitive if they can’t compete in the transfer market as successfully as some of their divisional competitors, notably those who have moved up from League One.
