Exclusive: Shilen Patel questioned for “wrong” West Brom decision involving Tony Mowbray
The Baggies lost five of their past six games with the 61-year-old in charge before to his departure earlier this week.
The final straw was a 3-1 defeat to Derby County, which has left them six points outside of the play-off places with only two games remaining.
Owner Shilen Patel hopes the next head coach can lead the team back to the top six in the Championship, however it is uncertain who will be in charge as the next permanent manager.
Hendrie expressed his astonishment at Mowbray’s dismissal, implying that the timing was inappropriate for such a choice.
He questions whether West Brom is on the right track and cautions that their aging team may present some issues that require immediate attention.
“To be honest, I think it was the wrong call,” Hendrie told Football League World in an exclusive interview.
It’s still very close for the final two play-off berths in terms of timing.

Sunderland has stated that they will be the two play-off teams in there already, and Sheffield United will undoubtedly be among them.
“I mean, listen, you can get a bounce factor from someone coming in, but they’re going to have to find someone quickly.
The problem is that I feel like that football team has been stagnant for a while now; there are a lot of senior players on the team, and it’s an older group.
Although I am aware that they have made an effort to recruit players, I do not believe that firing Tony was the best course of action.
In order to get them into the play-offs and possibly the Premier League, I simply think they’re going to bring in someone else who can give them that boost right away.
West Brom, who are currently 10th in the Championship table, will play Cardiff City and Luton Town in their final two games.
They hired Mowbray after Carlos Corberan left in December, which was a terrible setback to their campaign.
“But, getting to the Premier League, they’ve got to spend an absolute fortune to rebuild the squad they have there because there’s so many older heads there.”
Owner Shilen Patel now has the chance to use the next few weeks to consider his long-term vision for the club.
The 61-year-old was a safe pair of hands to bring in on short notice, and things were going well until the last few weeks when injuries hindered their form.
The Baggies are in danger of falling behind their promotion rivals, and Hendrie’s warning of going backwards is a very relevant one.
