Pol Valentin was let go by Sheffield Wednesday this summer, but it doesn’t seem like he will be having any trouble finding a new home.
Xisco Munoz signed the 28-year-old from Sporting Gijon, and he became a popular character at Hillsborough during his two-year stint. However, he failed to exercise a summer contract option, and he will now be a free agent in July.
Valentin will now be considering his choices for the next phase of his career, as it is understood that many English Football League teams, including two in the Championship, are eager to try and keep him in the UK. However, as you might anticipate, clubs outside of England are also monitoring him.
A wanted man is Pol Valentin.
According to reporter Angel Garcia, the full back is a “highly coveted player” this summer, and two second-tier Spanish clubs have reportedly expressed interest in him.
“Pol Valentin, a right-back, is leaving Sheffield Wednesday after his contract expires,” Garcia posted on social media. Despite being on the radar of two Liga Hypermotion clubs, his 77 appearances in two Championship campaigns make him appealing to other teams in the English tier. After stints with Fuenlabrada and Sporting Gijon, he has made almost 100 appearances in the division. An extremely sought-after player on the market.
Valentin has already returned to Spain following the conclusion of the 2024–2025 season, although discussions will take place in a number of locations to quickly finalize his future.
