Exclusive: Wolves backed to beat Leeds and Burnley in Ipswich Town transfer race

Exclusive: Wolves are predicted to win the Ipswich Town transfer race over Leeds and Burnley.

Ipswich is expected to receive bids for O’Shea this summer, as the 26-year-old, who joined from Turf Moor last summer for £15 million, is apparently attracting interest from Leeds, Wolves, and former team Burnley.

Despite their 82 goals given up and consequent relegation, the Republic of Ireland international made 35 appearances in the top division for Kieran McKenna’s team last season and was voted player of the season.

When asked if losing the defender would be a loss for Ipswich, Hendrie was all praise in an exclusive interview with Football League World.

“I think he is one of those defenders where you know what you are getting from him,” he stated to FLW.

“He’s one of those solid performers, he leads by example, and I definitely think he’s got it in his locker to step up for any of those teams for sure.”

Hendrie thinks Wolves would be the ideal fit for O’Shea given his style of play and the club’s, as Burnley and Leeds are trying to be ready for life back in the Premier League after their promotion.

“Wolves would be a nice fit for him because of their style and the way they play,” he stated. “He’s a footballing defender so I think Wolves would be the perfect fit for him.”

Mark Ashton, the CEO of Ipswich, has declared that just a few sales, such as the recent departure of Liam Delap for Chelsea, are scheduled to occur after the club’s relegation. A sizable bid, however, may put that commitment to the test because O’Shea is under contract and drawing elite interest.
There are plenty of suitors, but it’s unclear if he will stay and spearhead Ipswich’s bid for promotion or try his hand at the Premier League for a fourth time.

Although the Premier League’s interest is encouraging, it might be argued that O’Shea would be better off staying at Ipswich rather than being called a relegation specialist after already losing to Burnley, West Brom, and Ipswich.

He runs the risk of adding a fourth relegation to his collection with another top-flight move.

If Rayan Ait-Nouri and Matheus Cunha are not sufficiently replaced, Wolves may take a step back, while Burnley and Leeds may require significant investment to remain up.

The defender may benefit more in the long run from a complete season leading the charge at Portman Road as one of the top center-backs in the Championship, as the team hopes to return to the Premier League right away rather than face relegation once more.
