As the manager who brought Champions League football back to Tyneside and ended our quest for a trophy, Eddie Howe has one of the safest jobs in football. Few would argue against giving the manager as much time as he wants in the dugout at St. James’ Park.
More significantly, it indicates that the team is stable, something that many other Premier League teams are now experiencing as they undergo management changes in front of a massive summer transfer window that will affect all 20 teams.
Thomas Frank, who is expected to succeed the fired Ange Postecoglou, is expected to leave Brentford for Tottenham Hotspur.
However, the Bees have started to move swiftly in their search for a replacement, and one of the front-runners to lead Brentford come August is a former Newcastle star (and captain!).
Parker is the front-runner to succeed Frank.

Fabrizio Romano claims that Brentford is considering hiring Scott Parker, a former Newcastle midfielder and current Burnley manager, as their next manager.
He discloses that although the 44-year-old is content at Turf Moor, he is on a three-man shortlist to replace Thomas Frank, and the Bees are considering bringing him to West London.
Parker will be looking for a third Premier League management spell after helping Burnley immediately recover from relegation to the Championship in the 23–24 season.
The former Toon captain managed Fulham and Bournemouth in the past, helping both teams return to the top flight. However, following a catastrophic 9-0 loss to Liverpool, the Cherries fired him and Fulham was demoted.
For Parker, that would be an intriguing shift. Naturally, Burnley will have a difficult time competing in the Premier League as a promoted team, but Brentford will lose their best player, Bryan Mbeumo, which is a terrible position for any new manager.
What impact may this have on James Trafford and Burnley?
For Newcastle supporters, we might want to keep an eye on the current managerial circumstances at Burnley and Brentford.
Naturally, James Trafford, one of our top summer transfer targets, is owned by the Clarets; thus, an unsettled position at Turf Moor may further encourage the 22-year-old to look for a move to St. James’ Park.
The Bees, on the other hand, are a formidable team in the Premier League; at the Gtech Community Stadium, we suffered one of our most humiliating losses of the previous year.
Would Parker still have the same influence as Frank if he were to take over as manager of Brentford? Would we be better off taking on one of the league’s most challenging away venues?
