
Fire breaks out in Heathfield; firefighters from Eastbourne, Crowborough and Uckfield at scene.
Firefighters were called to a fire in an East Sussex village this afternoon.
East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service (ESFRS) reported that fire engines had been despatched. People are advised to avoid the area. The incident was first reported just after 2.40pm today.

A fire broke out at Warbleton, Heathfield. Following the fire, an ESFRS spokeswoman stated: “We were called at 2.42pm on 6 April to reports of a fire in Furnace Lane, Warbleton, Heathfield.” “Four fire engines with firefighters from Eastbourne, Uckfield, and Crowborough, as well as two Land Rovers from Seaford and Wadhurst, are currently on scene. Please avoid this area. “There is a massive fire in the open, and personnel are working hard to control and extinguish it. “Stable progress is being made. Crews are continuing to work hard to extinguish the fire.” Just before 6 p.m., ESFRS reported that teams were damping down and checking for hotspots. The spokesperson added that the incident has been scaled down, and two appliances are currently remain at the scene.”
