Fire crews called out to house fires and crash over Easter

During a hectic Easter weekend, firefighters were summoned to an accident and two house fires.

Shortly after noon, a Blackburn fire engine and the Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service’s Urban Search and Rescue

(USAR) Team responded to a collision on Suffolk Street.

Using a Go Jack, a thermal imaging camera, and small tools, firefighters and the USAR team successfully secured a

hazardous building. The crews were there for two hours.

Additionally, two fire engines from the Nelson and Colne fire stations responded to a home fire on Swinden Hall

Road in Nelson on Saturday at 12:41 p.m.

To put out the fire, firefighters employed a ventilation machine, a gas monitor, and a single hose reel. For forty

minutes, crews were present.

Two fire engines from Hyndburn and Great Harwood responded to a domestic building fire on Lord Street in

Rishton on Good Friday at 3:39.

To put out the fire, firefighters employed a ventilation device and a single hose reel while wearing breathing

protection. For one and a half hours, crews stayed on the site.
