Five arrested in missing man murder investigation.
Five persons have been arrested on suspicion of murder in the case of a Latvian man who went missing four months ago. They were apprehended on Tuesday in King’s Lynn, Norwich, and Peterborough. Maris Ile, age 54, was reported missing on November 23. Norfolk Police said they thought Mr Ile had “come to harm” and opened a murder inquiry despite the fact that his body had not been recovered. According to the police, Mr Ile lived in King’s Lynn and worked in Ely. Det Supt Phill Grey of the Norfolk and Suffolk Major Investigation Team said: “Maris was a seasonal worker in the UK and had a very structured life, maintaining in regular communication with his family in Latvia.
“No one has seen or heard from Maris since November 20, when he left his home in King’s Lynn to go to work but never came. “As a result of our enquiries, we believe Maris has come to harm and have therefore taken the unusual step to launch a murder investigation, despite not having found Maris’s body.”

Det Supt Gray said work on this case had “involved some sensitive enquiries”
Two men were arrested in Norwich, one in Peterborough, and one in King’s Lynn. A woman was also detained in King’s Lynn. Det Supt Grey confirmed that all five are in police custody and are being questioned “to understand the circumstances of [Mr Ile’s] disappearance.”
