Wrexham have confirmed that Josh Windass will miss their game against Sheffield Wednesday, but he isn’t the only one.
Windass will have been expecting for a Wednesday reunion this weekend when the Owls visit to the Racecourse Ground, but a hamstring injury has sidelined him for a few weeks, which was regarded as a ‘blow’ for Red Dragons manager Phil Parkinson.
However, the attacker is one of several Wrexham players who are unavailable for selection in their upcoming match, with several others still out for some time.
Wrexham’s Injury Concerns
Ollie Rathbone, Liberato Cacace, Jay Rodriguez, George Thomason, and Andy Cannon are all out with various diseases, but their manager, Parkinson, feels they will be able to cope, noting squad depth as a crucial feature for the season ahead.
“George is making progress, and Libby is making good progress,” Parkinson told reporters before the game against the Owls. “Obviously, Jay and Andy are long-term… We’ve had some inconvenience, but other clubs have experienced similar issues.

“It’s just important that we don’t get too upset about it and deal with it because we have fantastic players ready to step in. “The depth of the squad is critical.”
Even without those players, the Welsh team has plenty of talent. Nathan Broadhead and Lewis O’Brien have been brought in, and they have previous experience with Conor Coady, Ryan Hardie, and Kieffer Moore. With Pierce Charles, Wednesday’s only senior goalkeeper, sidelined due to injury, the men in red will see an opportunity to earn their first Championship points.
The Owls also have Nathaniel Chalobah out injured after being forced off on opening day, but there are no more concerns beyond the two stated above.
