Sunderland’s new football director has been revealed, Sadiki is leaving, and a promising goalkeeper is training with Hartlepool.
Sunderland have made a substantial off-field acquisition and are accelerating their Premier League recruitment push, with several agreements nearing completion.
Florent Ghisolfi has officially joined the club as director of football, and Noah Sadiki is on his way to become the Black Cats’ second major signing of the year, following Habib Diarra’s record transfer. Meanwhile, negotiations for defensive reinforcements continue, and a young Sunderland goalkeeper is training with a nearby National League club as he considers his next move.
Ghisolfi takes the lead as Sunderland restructures football operations.
Sunderland have officially confirmed Florent Ghisolfi as the club’s new director of football.
Ghisolfi, who joins from Serie A club Roma, will start work at the Academy of Light immediately, collaborating with current sporting director Kristjaan Speakman under a dual leadership format. Ghisolfi, who has previously played for RC Lens and OGC Nice, is seen as a crucial player in the club’s ongoing development as it prepares to return to the Premier League.
Sunderland stated that the move is “an organic evolution of SAFC’s long-term strategy, as the Club continues to prepare for the opportunities and demands of the Premier League.” Chairman Kyril Louis-Dreyfus stated, “The hiring of Florent represents an exciting new chapter in that journey. This appointment improves our capabilities and aligns with the Club’s long-term goal.”

Sunderland looking to sign £18 million defender amid Premier League interest
Toulouse are demanding a sum of over £18 million for highly rated defender Charlie Cresswell, according to The Sun.
The 21-year-old has emerged as a target for several top-tier clubs, with Sunderland and West Ham United keeping a close eye on the issue. While no formal offer has been made by the Black Cats, interest is believed to be genuine, with the club evaluating many defensive possibilities as part of a larger recruitment drive.
Sadiki is set to join Sunderland for £15 million, according to Romano.
According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Sunderland are close to signing Noah Sadiki from Union Saint-Gilloise. The 20-year-old DR Congo international is likely to sign a five-year contract after passing a medical. Sunderland will pay roughly £15 million, with an additional £2.5 million in add-ons perhaps due.
Sadiki is a center midfielder by profession but has also played right back and made over 40 senior games in Belgium’s top division. His arrival would follow the club’s record-breaking signing of Habib Diarra, indicating a new level of financial ambition under Kyril Louis-Dreyfus and Régis Le Bris.
Young Sunderland goalie trains with Hartlepool.
Adam Richardson, 21, is presently practicing with Hartlepool United in the early phases of their preseason campaign, according to the Hartlepool Mail.
Richardson, who has been in Sunderland’s youth since the age of eight, is one of four trialists at Pools, joining Jake Hull, Ben Williams, and Josh Harrop. He had represented England at the U17 and U18 levels and was chosen to several senior matchday teams while with the Black Cats. Richardson’s next step is likely to be regular first-team football outside of the Stadium of Light.
Mandava closed in, but Bulka pursued elsewhere.
Sunderland’s recent success in the transfer market would be continued with the acquisition of Sadiki.
Reinildo Mandava, formerly of Atlético Madrid, is close to signing a contract, while goalkeeper target Marcin Bulka has decided to join Neom in the Saudi Pro League. Le Bris and Speakman have worked rapidly to strengthen ahead of Friday’s return to pre-season testing, with the majority of the squad expected to report back in the coming days.
Sunderland redirect their attention to Chelsea’s Petrovic after missing out on Bulka.
Sunderland are considering a move for Chelsea goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic after missing out on OGC Nice’s Bulka.
Bulka, who was under consideration as he neared the final year of his contract in France, has instead signed to a long-term contract with Saudi Pro League club Neom after a late approach. The 25-year-old has completed a medical and is now ready to join the ambitious Saudi team.
