FOOTBALL -Sky Sports pundit expects Coventry City to challenge at ‘top end of table’ next season

According to Don Goodman, a commentator for SKY Sports, Coventry City will contend for a spot at the “top end of the Championship table” the following season. Coventry lost heartbreakingly to Sunderland in the play-off semi-finals. Sunderland defeated Sheffield United at Wembley to advance to the Premier League.

The Sky Blues dominated possession in both legs against the Black Cats before falling to a cruel defeat after extra time with virtually the final touch of the second leg.

And Sky EFL expert Goodman believes the nature of the defeat will act as motivation for Frank Lampard’s side to go one better next season.

“What happened against Sunderland will give Frank Lampard, Doug King, and the entire Coventry City team incredible motivation for next season,” Goodman stated in an interview with FruityKing. “I believe Frank Lampard will have preseason support, and the plans for the upcoming season will have been established before the playoffs.

He will have the opportunity to shape the team into what he wants it to be, which is likely what we seen during the two legs in terms of game management. “City was likely one of the best strikers on the way to Wembley.” “They have the makings of a really strong Championship team that will undoubtedly compete for the top spot in the Championship table the following season.”
