Forest’s Danilo joins Botafogo as Sels signs new deal
Danilo, a midfielder for Nottingham Forest, signed a four-year contract with Botafogo of Brazil.
For a reported £16 million, the Brazilian left Palmeiras to join Forest in January 2023.
Most of his 62 appearances in all competitions came during his first full season with the team.
The 24-year-old fractured his ankle in the first-day tie against Bournemouth, and he only made 13 appearances in
2024–25.
Forest stated: “Everyone at Nottingham Forest thanks Danilo for his contribution while at the club, wishing him the
very best for the next stage of his career.”
Matz Sels, the goalie for Forest, has signed a better contract at the City Ground.
According to sources who spoke to BBC Sport, the 33-year-old has signed new contracts that will keep him with
Forest until 2027, but the team now has a 12-month option to extend.
Sels, who kept 13 clean sheets as Forest finished seventh in the Premier League and made their first trip back to
Europe since 1996, shared the Golden Glove award with David Raya of Arsenal last season.
“I’m really happy to sign a new contract,” Sels stated. “We had an amazing season, and I was one small part of that.”
“Hopefully we can continue together and have some great moments again this season. This season I’m looking
forward to playing in Europe because it’s really something special.”

Along with Chris Wood, Murillo, and Neco Williams, he signed a new contract with Forest this year after helping the
team reach the FA Cup semi-finals, where they were defeated by Manchester City.
“Matz is a seasoned goalie who has been continuously playing at a high level for a number of years,” stated Ross
Wilson, chief football officer. He is a vital member of our group and had a significant impact on the club the previous
season.
“He has earned the new deal, and we’re excited to see how he keeps improving and helping the team moving
forward.”
