Former Aberdeen defender Jayden Richardson returns to Scotland with St Mirren.

St Mirren have signed former Aberdeen wing-back Jayden Richardson on a two-year contract.
The 24-year-old Englishman made 24 appearances for the Dons in 2022-23 before spending the second of his two seasons at Pittodrie on loan to Stockport and Colchester. Richardson returns to Scotland to join Saints after spending the previous season with Boreham Wood in the National League South. “I’m over the moon,” he stated on the Buddies’ official website. “I can’t wait to get in front of the audience and demonstrate what I do. I can offer energy, pace, and power, and hopefully my athleticism up and down will keep the fans on the edge of their seats. “I understand what Scottish football is like. When I was up here before, playing against St. Mirren, we knew it was a tough game no matter what and the fans here were outstanding.
“I’ve had a couple conversations with the manager, and they’ve been pleasant. I know what he wants from me and what I need to provide for him, so ideally we have excellent chemistry and can work well together.” Manager Stephen Robinson is thrilled to have Richardson join his team. “Jayden is someone I tried to sign a few seasons ago,” the coach stated. “He has a lot of qualities that I look for in a winger/full back. He’s swift, strong, and tall, much like Ryan Alebiosu, who was with us last season. “All of the qualities are there, and it is up to us to bring them out of him. I believe he’ll be an excellent signing for us.”
St Mirren have named John Park as their new head of recruiting, replacing Robinson’s trusted chief scout Martin Foyle, who left the club to join Carlisle. “Martin has been an integral part of what we’ve done over the past three and a half years and he’s been an integral part of what I’ve done as a manager over 10 years now,” says Robinson. “He’s become a dear friend of mine, and his departure is a terrible loss for the club. “Another interesting opportunity presented itself, and Martin is leaving with regret. I’d like to express my gratitude to him for his recruitment and for everything he’s done at the football club.
“The club have appointed John and it’s important that we get working together quickly, build a relationship and I look forward to that.”
