Former Barrow Boy Connor Brown Joins Bradford (Park Avenue)

Bradford (Park Avenue) have strengthened their defensive ranks with the addition of experienced right-back Connor Brown ahead of the 2025/26 season.

The 32-year-old defender arrives at the Horsfall Community Stadium with a wealth of experience in both the Football League and non-league football, bringing valuable leadership and a battle-hardened mentality to the Avenue squad.

Brown began his football journey in the academy of Sheffield United, where he turned professional in 2011. Although first-team opportunities at Bramall Lane proved elusive, he quickly found his footing through loan spells and permanent moves across the EFL and National League, carving out a reputation as a reliable, no-nonsense right-back.

His most notable stints came at Oldham Athletic and Barrow. At Oldham, he made over 100 appearances in League One, showcasing his consistency and defensive discipline during a challenging period for the club. He later played for Carlisle United before joining Barrow, where he became a key part of the squad that gained promotion from the National League in the 2019/20 season. During his time at Barrow, Brown earned praise for his work ethic, versatility, and commitment, helping to solidify their backline as they re-established themselves in the Football League.

Brown’s experience in high-pressure matches and his leadership both on and off the pitch were significant factors in Avenue’s decision to bring him on board. Speaking to the club’s official website, Avenue manager Mark Bower expressed his delight at securing Brown’s services.

“Connor is a fantastic addition to the squad,” Bower said. “He’s played at a high level and brings exactly the kind of professionalism we want in the dressing room. He knows what it takes to win and to compete week in, week out. His presence will be a big boost for us, especially for our younger players who can learn a lot from him.”

Brown becomes Avenue’s latest summer signing as the club looks to build a squad capable of challenging in the Northern Premier League. With the new season just weeks away, the emphasis has been on adding seasoned players who can offer consistency and know-how during what promises to be a competitive campaign.

The defender, who most recently had a spell with Buxton FC, says he’s excited about the new chapter in his career and eager to make an impact.

“I’m buzzing to be here,” Brown said. “Bradford (Park Avenue) is a club with great history and ambition. I’ve had a good chat with the manager about his plans and I’m fully on board. I still feel I’ve got a lot to offer, and I’m ready to get going.”

Avenue fans will be hoping Brown’s arrival is a signal of intent from the club as they aim to improve on last season’s mid-table finish. With pre-season fixtures just around the corner, all eyes will now be on how quickly the new-look defence gels—with Brown expected to play a key role.
