Former Hartlepool United full-back signs for Scottish Championship side

Former Hartlepool United full-back signs for Scottish Championship side.

Former Hartlepool United defender Reghan Tumilty has joined Scottish Championship side St Johnstone. The 28-year-old full-back joins the Saints after being relegated from the Scottish Premiership last season. He previously played for Hamilton Academical in Scottish League One, where he scored 11 goals in 102 games.

Tumilty had a terrible time at Victoria Park after accompanying then-manager Paul Hartley south of the border in summer 2022. Despite showing flashes of promise, the attack-minded full-back struggled to adjust to the English league, making only 25 appearances as Pools were relegated to the National League. Tumilty, whose uncle has a St Johnstone season ticket, told the Saints’ official website that he felt “honoured” to have signed for the club.

Last season, I played here in the cup with Hamilton, and the atmosphere was fantastic. Hopefully, the fans can help us push forward.

“I’m an attacking fullback. You will see me in the box, attempting to score goals, but I also enjoy creating. I’ll throw everything into this and go up and down the right side nonstop. “The games will come thick and fast but we’ll quickly get used to playing with each other.” Your next Hartlepool United read: Long-serving defender reportedly heading towards Pools leave.
