Former Millwall defenders feature as England under-21s progress to Euros quarter-finals.

FORMER Millwall defenders Brooke Norton-Cuffy and Charlie Cresswell played as England’s under-21s defeated 2-1 to Germany in their last group stage match of the Under-21 European Championship.
Despite the setback, the Young Lions advanced to the knockout stage and will face Spain in the quarter-finals.
Cresswell, 22, began the game at centre-back, while Norton-Cuffy, 21, was introduced at halftime with Germany up 2-0. England got a goal back in the 76th minute when Ipswich Town’s Omari Hutchinson sent in a low cross that Bournemouth’s Alex Scott punched in from close range, but they couldn’t find an equaliser. Cresswell has started all three of England’s group stage games, scoring a late header in a 3-1 victory over Czechia. Norton-Cuffy was an unused replacement against Czechia before coming off the bench in the 64th minute of England’s 0-0 tie with Slovenia.Cresswell joined Millwall on loan from Leeds United in the 2022-23 season and made 30 appearances across all competitions, scoring four goals. Last summer, the centre-back signed a permanent deal with Ligue 1 side Toulouse. Norton-Cuffy came via Arsenal’s system and was loaned to the Lions for the 2023-24 season. Millwall’s full-back made 40 appearances throughout all competitions. He signed permanently with Serie A club Genoa last summer for an unknown cost.
