Former Reading Player of the Season Andy Rinomhota is on the market, departing Cardiff City after their relegation to League One.
The Academy graduate made more over a century of appearances with the Royals, winning Player of the Season in 2019, before moving to Cardiff in 2022.
He formed a formidable partnership with Josh Laurent in 2020/21, as Veljko Paunovic’s team finished seventh after fighting for promotion all season.
The dynamic midfielder made nearly 90 appearances for the Bluebirds, but was relegated twice, once while on loan at Rotherham United in 2024 and again this year with his parent club.
Rinomhota was named Players’ Player of the Season during the 2024/25 season, but has decided to leave after conversations with new manager Brian Barry-Muprhy.
He is the second former Royal to leave Cardiff this week, following former Reading teammate Yakou Meite, who has been linked with a return to Berkshire since leaving two years ago.
Cardiff are in the third tier for the first time in more than 20 years, having finished last season at the bottom of the Championship.
On Thursday, the EFL will finalize the upcoming season’s schedule list and complete the League Cup and EFL Trophy draws.
