Portsmouth supporters now have four more reasons to be afraid of their September visit to St. Mary’s

With no indication that the incoming transfers have concluded, Johannes Spors and his scouting team’s hectic summer has culminated in the last few days. Three transfer agreements have been confirmed by the Saints today, and another is probably on the horizon. Even though Mateus Fernandes was sold to West Ham United for £38 million plus £4 million in add-ons this morning, Southampton moved quickly to replace the young Portuguese international with three aggressive midfielders.
Saints are reportedly nearing agreements with West Bromwich Albion winger Tom Fellows, Nurnberg midfielder Caspar Jander, and Middlesbrough’s highly regarded attacking midfielder Finn Azaz. These three players are more than making up for Fernandes’ departure in agreements for an estimated £34.5 million. Southampton and FC Heidenheim seem to be nearing an agreement on 26-year-old Brazilian-born set-piece specialist Leo Scienza, an attacker.
Fabrizio Romano claims that the Brazilian had already reached a personal agreement with Southampton and had stated his intention to depart Heidenheim this summer. The four prospective new hires combined for 59 goal involvements for their clubs during the previous season. Tom Fellows and Finn Azaz contributed 41 of those goals in the Championship. Whatever striker is selected from Southampton’s current crop of players, their 25 assists will be welcome.
Saints will be much more powerful than they are currently, regardless of what occurs before Pompey visits St. Mary’s on August 14. In one of the fiercest derbies ever, four new players might make their Southampton debuts. Pompey supporters could have to watch this game through their fingers and from behind the couch.
