Frimpong, Elanga react to Fulham star Calvin Bassey with Man United ace.

Liverpool’s Jeremie Frimpong and Nottingham Forest’s Anthony Elanga responded to Calvin Bassey’s message after the Fulham defender was spotted with a Manchester United star.

The Nigerian defender joined the Cottagers from Ajax for £19.3 million [BBC Sport], replacing outgoing Whites great Tim Ream. After a rocky start, Bassey improved his performances and has established himself as a key member of Marco Silva’s team.

Along with Joachim Andersen, the former Rangers defender has become accustomed to stepping up and being the first defender to face onrushing attackers, while the Dane plays a sweeping role.

Bassey’s natural left-footedness fits one-time Liverpool target Antonee Robinson’s attacking style, with the 25-year-old frequently drifting outside to cover for the American international.

And, as the new Premier League season approaches, the Nigerian centre-back has been training with a United star to prepare as Fulham try to improve on their 11th-place finish last season.

Bassey works out with Manchester United’s Amad Ahead of the new season, Bassey posted a slew of images on Instagram, including one of himself exercising alongside United player Amad, which was captioned with a relaxed emoji. Newcastle transfer target Elanga liked the post, as did former Ajax teammate Frimpong.

Football Insider’s Verdict Chelsea, Fulham’s West London neighbours, are making signings as if the club’s future depends on it, and following UEFA sanctions, they may well do.

However, there have been no incomings to Craven Cottage thus far this summer.

Willian, Carlos Vinicius, and Tom Cairney all left Fulham after their contracts ended, however the former Blackburn Rovers midfielder has been offered an extension. The Whites’ lack of action extends beyond transfers; they have yet to announce new uniforms for the 2025/26 season, much alone who will play in pre-season.

Slow starts to the summer are not uncommon for those who have watched the team for a long time. However, after coming close to qualifying for Europe last season, supporters will be expecting to see the Cottagers’ action resume soon, otherwise there may be cause for alarm.
