Frustration for Wolves duo after what Carlo Ancelotti has just done as new Brazil manager

Wolves have enjoyed a brilliant 2025 by and large, but Carlo Ancelotti appears not to have seen it that way.

Wolves earned their Premier League status for 2025/26 a few weeks ago and ended 16th in the table.
Vitor Pereira made a huge effect after succeeding Gary O’Neil, and fans are optimistic about where he may take the squad next season.

Andy Thompson feels there’s no reason Wolves can’t win a trophy or push for Europe, and anticipation is strong after the Portuguese radically overhauled the picture at the club.

Under Pereira, Joao Gomes and Andre excelled in midfield, leading Wolves to significant improvement in the second half of the season. However, new Brazil manager Carlo Ancelotti did not see their efforts as enough.

Joao Gomes and Andre miss out on Carlo Ancelotti’s first Brazil squad

Joao Gomes and Andre are incredibly exciting additions to the Wolves team.
They’ve only been playing regularly as a tandem since the beginning of 2025, but they already appear to be a formidable duo in Wolves’ engine room.

Behind-the-scenes footage clearly shows that they have a close bond, which allows them to excel on the pitch for Wolves.

Despite their outstanding performances in recent months and significant contributions to Wolves’ safety mission, Carlo Ancelotti has not called either player up to the Brazil squad.

Joao Gomes was chosen Wolves’ Supporters’ Player of the Season, thus his removal is surprising.
Andre has been hailed as one of the top number sixes in the Premier League, so he will be sad to miss out.

Andreas Pereira, Bruno Guimaraes, Andrey Santos, Casemiro, Ederson, and Gerson are the midfielders Ancelotti has called up this time.

Brazil has two World Cup qualifying games against Ecuador and Paraguay coming up next month, but Ancelotti will not select the Wolves pair.

Matheus Cunha, who is about to complete a move to Manchester United, has been called up.

Harsh on Gomes and Andre

It’s normal for players who have consistently made national team squads to be left out when a new manager takes over. It’s unlikely that Ancelotti has had much time to watch Wolves this season due to his hectic schedule as manager of Real Madrid.
