Gary Lineker and Micah Richards disagree over Premier League star – ‘I’m hearing Wrexham’

Gary Lineker has expressed his opinions over Jamie Vardy’s possible relocation to Wrexham, which is owned by Hollywood. After 13 seasons at King Power Stadium, the 38-year-old striker has declared his intention to leave Leicester City this summer.

Vardy played a key role in Leicester’s FA Cup victory in 2021 as well as their Premier League title in 2015–16. Leicester has hailed him as “our greatest-ever player” after he scored 198 goals in 497 club appearances.

Shortly after Leicester’s Premier League relegation was certain, the forward made the decision to depart. Even though Vardy has stated that he would not be hanging up his boots, there has been a lot of conjecture around his future.

Actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney own Wrexham, which was recently promoted to the Championship and has surfaced as a potential future home for Vardy. Lineker believes Vardy may end up moving to Major League Soccer instead.

Although jokingly calling Vardy “a bit of a s*** house at times,” the Match of the Day host praised Vardy for his “brilliant” effect at Leicester. In an interview with the Rest is Football podcast, Lineker acknowledged Vardy as a club great, spoke well of him, and wished him luck in his future endeavors.

Alan Shearer responded with admiration for Vardy, saying: “What a story and good luck to him with whatever he does, whether he chooses to go out and play in the sunshine or wherever.” Shearer is a legend of Newcastle United. Whatever he decides to do next, he deserves it.

Micah Richards grinned as he stated, “I’m hearing Wrexham guys,” throughout the conversation. He’s interested in visiting Wrexham. “There might not be much sunshine there,” Shearer remarked in jest, and Lineker responded, “I can see him in the MLS.”

Lineker is just one of several commentators who have chimed in on Vardy’s likely future move. Gary Neville was among the first, indicating before his departure was revealed that remaining put could be preferable.

“I think [he should] stay at Leicester if he can,” he stated in an interview with “The Gary Neville Podcast.” Why not? Do you not believe that Jamie Vardy would cause issues and that the Championship needs him? Both their possession of the ball and their dominance of the game will increase significantly.
