Sunderland are a Premier League team again, having won promotion from the Championship last season. That means that the Tyne-Wear derby is returning, with the local rivals scheduled to face each other in December and March.
It is going to be a difficult season for Newcastle United’s biggest rivals, but they have invested heavily in an effort to avoid relegation from the Premier League. Their biggest signing is Habib Diarra from Strasbourg, while they have also added an experienced head in Granit Xhaka.
