
Glasgow police officer ‘assaulted’ before Old Firm game as two people charged
One 40-year-old guy was accused with abusive and threatening behavior, and another woman was charged with allegedly assaulting a police officer.
A lady has been accused with assaulting a police officer before to the Rangers vs. Celtic game and engaging in abusive and threatening behavior.
Before kickoff at Ibrox on Sunday, May 4, police claim a 40-year-old woman was taken into custody and charged in relation to the alleged incidents.
In addition, a 40-year-old man was taken into custody and charged with threatening and abusive behavior during the Scottish Premiership game in which both Glasgow teams scored goals.
It comes as investigators look into a bottle that was thrown onto the field during Sunday’s game.
“A 40-year-old woman was arrested and charged in connection with threatening and abusive behaviour and alleged police assault prior to the match,” a Police Scotland spokesperson stated.
A report will be forwarded to the Fiscal Procurator.
After the game, a 40-year-old man was taken into custody and charged with threatening and abusive behavior.
“The report will be sent to the Fiscal Procurator.”
Prior to the match, Rangers criticized their own supporters for a “unacceptable” tifo display. Ibrox management were incensed when the Copland Road stand unfurled a massive banner prior to kickoff.
Additionally, the team promised to find the person who hurled a glass bottle onto the field.
