Google photogrammetry plane spotted flying over Norwich

Again, a bizarre zigzagging plane that aids in the development of “immersive” technology has been seen flying over

Norfolk.

At around seven in the morning, the aircraft took off from the vicinity of Lille airport in France. At around ten in the

morning, it started a strange flight pattern over portions of Norwich.

Taverham, Horsford, Rackheath, and Costessey were some of the locations that the aeroplane repeatedly weaved

over.

After spotting the jet, a Sprowston resident remarked, “It’s the French spying on us!”

Again, a bizarre zigzagging plane that aids in the development of “immersive” technology has been seen flying over

Norfolk.

As it turned out, Google was using the aircraft to capture “billions of pictures” in order to build 3D models. The

aircraft was first spotted on Wednesday, March 19, where parts of Norwich as well as Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft,

were surveyed.

The process of piecing together billions of high-resolution photos of places taken by Google Street View vehicles and

aeroplanes is known as photogrammetry.

Road names, lane markers, buildings, rivers, and the exact distance between each are among the details that are

recorded throughout the process.

An “immersive” image of cities and towns throughout the world is then produced using the photographs to generate

scale-accurate, three-dimensional computer models.
