Scott Parker has praised the Burnley leadership for their support during his hugely successful first season in charge.
Following Vincent Kompany’s stunning move to Bayern Munich last summer, the Clarets’ manager was selected as Burnley’s new manager.
The 44-year-old was tasked with returning the Clarets to the Premier League, and he delivered, masterminding an astonishing 100-point season in the second division.
Parker, on the other hand, admits that he could not have done it alone and thanks Alan Pace and the Burnley board for their assistance.
“Absolutely incredible,” he told the Burnley Express about the support he has gotten.
“I’m delighted you asked, because I’m the type of guy who values stability, and I’ve certainly felt their support. “Even in the early days, there were some question marks, which I understand.
First and first, I admire and appreciate the players for going in the direction I thought was best for us. But then I am quite grateful to the ownership, investors, and Alan for the tranquilly or sense they provided me.
“I never felt anything except complete commitment and belief. They brought out the best in me and pushed me to be the best I could be, which I much appreciate.”
JJ Watt, a minority shareholder, has been a distant observer on the board. Despite being situated in the United States, Parker believes the NFL legend has played an important role.
“I have met JJ several times. “He’s been brilliant,” the Clarets manager said on the club’s YouTube account.
“He was in the interview process, so I spoke with JJ early on, and he has maintained in touch throughout the year. He has also visited several times.
“He’s certainly been in the arena and around sports and athletes, so he’s probably familiar with the dynamics of what’s required in different situations and what isn’t.
He’s been a great sounding board. “He was someone I was speaking to over Zoom [during the interview process], as well as a few others.”
