Green Bay Packers’ Intriguing Trade Hinted at by NFL Insider Before 2025 Season

Romeo Doubs and Christian Watson appear to be the most likely candidates for the Green Bay Packers to move on from as they enter the final years of their respective contracts, and the team has a full wide receiver room going into training camp and preseason action.

Following the selection of Matthew Golden in the first round and Savion Williams in the third round of the 2025 NFL Draft, there have been rumors that the Packers may consider making a wide receiver trade.

Green Bay might value the depth at the position, but it wouldn’t be shocking to see general manager Brian Gutekunst pay attention if the right offer came up.

One NFL insider has suggested an intriguing trade the Packers could make before the 2025 season.

Sports Illustrated’s Albert Greer posted on X with a hint about a possible trade option, stating that Aaron Rodgers, who is anticipated to sign with the Pittsburgh Steelers at some point, liked Doubs while he was in Green Bay.

“Aaron Rodgers was very fond of Romeo Doubs when they were together,” Greer wrote.

Following the Steelers’ decision to deal George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys on Wednesday morning, they could be in the market for another wide receiver. If Rodgers loves Doubs and he’s going to sign with Pittsburgh, a trade with the Packers may make a ton of sense.

Doubs participated in 13 games in Green Bay during the 2024 NFL season. For 601 yards and four scores, he caught 46 passes.

The wide receiver, who is 25 years old, probably has some good trade value. The Packers may be able to make the move and free up some space on the depth chart if they are able to acquire a mid- or even late-round pick.
