Premier League club set to get green light for £130million stadium expansion that will boost capacity by thousands

Further developments also planned to make stadium among biggest in England
A PREMIER LEAGUE club have been given a huge boost after getting the green light for their £130million stadium expansion.
The club moved into their current home ground all the way back in 1898 – 127 years ago.
Nottingham Forest are currently prepared to implement the latest enhancements to the iconic stadium. The City Ground was updated in 1957, 1965, 1980, 1993, and 1996.
However, no major maintenance has been done on the facility in almost 30 years. Forest has, however, taken a significant stride towards modernising and enlarging their home.
On June 26, the Rushcliffe Borough Council will consider plans to bulldoze and rebuild the Peter Taylor stand. And the planning committee will review the proposal after the council’s planning department “recommended that planning permission be granted subject to a series of planning conditions”.
If all goes as planned, Forest will be able to begin working on the update. The proposals include for the construction of a new 10,000-seat stand. It would also be the stadium’s tallest stand at 38 metres.
The opening of the new main stand is expected to increase City Ground capacity from 30,404 to an initial 35,000. When first suggested in 2019, the anticipated cost was £94 million.
However, that has now risen to £130m.
The long-term goal is to develop the Bridgford end and raise the number of seats to 40,000, with a 169-apartment flat complex also in the works.
According to a joint statement issued by the Forest and the council, “Nottingham Forest has been in regular dialogue with Rushcliffe Borough Council, Nottingham City Council, and Nottinghamshire County Council regarding the redevelopment of the City Ground.” “The parties can confirm that they are working towards the Rushcliffe Borough Council Planning Committee’s consideration of the application on Thursday, June 26.
“There will be no further comment other than as required by the relevant legal process.” The final administration is expected to be completed in 2026, with Forest planning to begin construction as soon as feasible thereafter.
