Habib Diarra and Noah Sadiki missing from Sunderland training – Sky Sports reveal reason for absence
Sadiki and Diarra are awaiting authorisation to begin training, and Talbi’s transfer is anticipated to be announced
later today.
New players for Sunderland Noah Sadiki and Habib Diarra have not yet begun full first-team training since they are
still awaiting the completion of their UK work permits.
Currently stationed in the Academy of Light, the couple has started to adapt to their new environment, but they are
unable to participate in group activities until the Home Office has cleared their documentation.
In his live report from Sunderland’s training base on Tuesday, Keith Downie of Sky Sports verified the information
and disclosed that both players are pursuing personal fitness regimens while the team awaits approval. Sunderland
is still optimistic that Diarra and Sadiki will both be fully involved in preseason play soon, and the circumstance is
not regarded as exceptional.
Union Saint-Gilloise in Belgium for about £19.5 million and Diarra joined from Strasbourg in a club-record deal
worth up to £30 million.
Downie also revealed that Sunderland are expected to announce the signing of Chemsdine Talbi, a 20-year-old
Belgian winger currently playing for Club Brugge. Talbi has been on the radar of several clubs across Europe and is
believed to have agreed terms with the Black Cats as part of their summer rebuild.
Reinildo, a left-back from Mozambique who also signed on a free transfer earlier this summer, is now on vacation
after playing for Atletico Madrid in the Club World Cup but will rejoin the team in the coming days. It is still hoped
that Diarra, Sadiki, and Talbi, the three new signings, would be cleared and allowed to fly with Régis Le Bris’ team as
Sunderland gets ready for a preseason training camp in Portugal.
Sunderland announce triple coaching addition
In preparation for the 2025–2026 Premier League season, Sunderland has confirmed a number of signings to Régis
Le Bris’ backroom staff.
Subject to international permission, Luciano Vulcano joins the team as assistant head coach. The seasoned coach
most recently held the position of assistant manager at Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia after having previously worked at
AC Milan. New goalkeeping coach Neil Cutler and assistant coach Isidre Ramón Madir, who is also pending
international permission, will join him.
Madir, who has extensive experience from elite clubs throughout Europe, including stints with Barcelona, Valencia,
OGC Nice, and Paris Saint-Germain, will take the lead in opposition analysis. He has also worked with the national
teams of Iraq and Spain.
Cutler oversees Sunderland’s goalkeeping staff in the meantime. Respected in the English game, he has coached at
Wolverhampton Wanderers, Aston Villa, and West Bromwich Albion. He will be in charge of the team’s senior
goalkeepers’ development.
After filling in as interim assistant coach throughout the previous season, Alessandro Barcherini has now been
officially confirmed in the role. He will now concentrate on the team’s defensive structure and individual
development plans after serving as the team’s goalkeeping head. As part of the increased first-team structure under
Le Bris, Michael Proctor and Pedro Ribeiro will remain in their current positions as assistant coaches.
