Halifax to close Kingsbury branch in June – only one bank left on Kingsbury Road

Halifax to close Kingsbury branch in June – only one bank left on Kingsbury Road.

Halifax has announced that the Kingsbury branch, located at 469 Kingsbury Road, will close on June 2, 2025.

The decision comes after a decline in in-person banking, with many customers turning to online and mobile banking services instead.

Following the closures of Barclays, HSBC, NatWest, Lloyds, and Nationwide, Santander will be the only remaining bank on Kingsbury Road.

Queensbury Ward Councillor Jayanti of Brent Council commented on the closure, saying “Queensbury Update! As you may already be aware, we have been informed that the Halifax Kingsbury branch will close on June 2, 2025. The bank will contact customers shortly. The reason for the closure is that many customers now prefer to bank via their mobile app or online, and as a result, visits to the branch have decreased.

“The ‘disappearance of face-to-face banking’ on Kingsbury Road risks depriving many elderly people of an essential service, making it ‘difficult, if not impossible, for them to manage their money and maintain their independence’.” Banks that have recently left Kingsbury Road include Barclays, HSBC, NatWest, Lloyds, Nationwide, and now Halifax, leaving only Santander.

“We share resident concerns who have contacted us that they are now without a bank even within driving distance, and that High Street banks treat their customers appallingly despite making billions of pounds in profits. Banks claim to support inclusion, but they ignore those who require in-person assistance the most. They have a responsibility to serve their communities, not just their shareholders.

A Halifax spokesperson told Harrow Online: “As more customers prefer to bank through their app or online, visits to our Kingsbury branch have decreased in recent years. When the branch closes in June, customers can still manage their money through our app, online, by phone, in person at the Edgware Road branch, or at the local Post Office on Kingsbury Road.”
