Hatters boss expecting further exits from Kenilworth Road following Championship relegation.

Broomfield understands that players will leave Town before the next season begins. Hatters manager Matt Bloomfield is aware that several players will leave Kenilworth Road after the club was relegated to League One last season. The Town manager, who replaced Rob Edwards in January, was unable to prevent a second consecutive relegation. Despite giving themselves an excellent chance of staying up by winning five and drawing three of their last nine matches, a 5-3 thrashing at West Bromwich Albion on the final day of the season meant they finished third bottom in the table, trailing Hull City on goal difference.

Since then, several players have been connected with departures from Kenilworth Road, including the presumably highly sought-after quintet of Thomas Kaminski, Teden Mengi, Alfie Doughty, and Thelo Aasgaard. With the Town manager actively aiming to bolster his team during the summer transfer window, he expects a number of players who have recently played in the top division to be willing to leave for greener pastures.

Speaking to the club’s official website, Bloomfield, who decided to release Pelly Ruddock Mpanzu, Amari’i Bell, Tim Krul and Victor Moses when announcing his retained list last month, said: “We all know that the club has been on an incredible journey over the last 10 years, have got to the top of domestic football and on the way back down I’m sure there are some players that feel that their future might be best served elsewhere. There are some players that are going to want to come on the journey with us as we want to recruit players that are going to join us and be proud to be here and during pre-season.

“I’m sure we’ll work with some players who may wind up leaving since some of our guys will be sought after elsewhere. That’s understandable given their success in the Premier League and several excellent performances in the Championship. We need to evolve the group; there will be interest in certain of our players, and embarking on that road with them, with the respect of our group, is normal; curiosity is understandable in football. “We’ll integrate the new players into the group and fit that piece together as quickly as possible. There will be periods along the route where we will have discussions and go through things together, but it will be hard work. By the conclusion of the window, we’ll have gone through that process, and we believe we’ll be stronger for it.”
