Hearts announce new one-year deal for valuable B team presence

After graduating from the academy and earning the starting position at Tynecastle Park, the 39-year-old made his comeback to Hearts last season. Over 130 appearances would be made during his first stint.

He was called back to the team by Liam Fox in order to support Jack Lyon and Lyndon Tas, the team’s two young goalkeepers. This past season, the three of them split goalkeeping responsibilities.

MacDonald and goalkeeping coach Ross Ballantyne have been a great addition to the training field.

“I’m thrilled that Jamie has chosen to remain with the B Team for another season,” stated Anguus Beith, head coach of the B squad.

“Next season, Jamie’s role will be very similar to what it has been for the past six months, covering goalkeeping for the B Team. However, Jamie’s value to us extends far beyond the field, as he provides invaluable leadership and guidance that benefits all of our young players.

“Our environment is improved by having a top individual like Jamie in the building.”
