‘Hotting up’: John Mousinho makes exciting Portsmouth transfer claim ahead of summer window.
Pompey is anticipated to be active in the market as the transfer window approaches in less than a week.
John Mousinho anticipates that within the following week, transfer activity will start to “heat up.”
The Blues are prepared for the upcoming window, which opens in less than a week, the head coach has also stated.
This Sunday marks the start of the market, which will be open for business for the first ten days of June before closing. On June 16, the shutters will be raised once more, and they will remain open for business until Monday, September 1, the deadline day.
As in the last two tight seasons, the Blues do not anticipate another significant player infusion this summer. Pompey, however, will not have a quiet window because they will also be trying to make room in their 25-man roster.
Preparations are ongoing in the recruitment department as Mousinho attempts to bolster his team ahead of their second consecutive campaign in the second division, while work is well started behind the scenes at the club’s Hilsea training base.
However, the head coach has made an intriguing assertion regarding when transfer activity might pick up steam, given that the Premier League season ends on Sunday and that the Championship and League One play-off finals take place over the bank holiday weekend.
The Pompey manager anticipates that transfer activity will be “hotting up.”
“A lot of work has been going on here at the training ground,” he stated in his end-of-season chat on the Blues’ official YouTube page. We have been working on redoing many of the pitches over the past few weeks.
“You can see that as you drive by, and I’m sure any of the members of the health club will notice that the amount of sand in the parking lot has reduced their car parking spaces.” The training ground is undergoing numerous renovations, not only to the fields but also to the structure itself.
During this period, we have made an effort to make the most of our summer vacation time; comparable activities are also taking place at Fratton Park. I’m very happy that we were able to get that done.

“Aside from that and the training pitch, we are still waiting for the season to finish and for several clubs to release their released and retained list, so it’s not all systems go yet in terms of recruitment. However, things will start to heat up from next week onwards.”
“After the Premier League concludes and the Premier League teams return from their tours, things start to settle down a bit more in terms of the market and things start to move by the time the domestic league ends and the Premier League continues until May 25.”
“We’ve been putting in a lot of effort over the last few months and definitely since the end of the January transfer window to make sure we’re in a good position, and we’re ready.”
The focus has completely changed. We switch from concentrating on games every week and making sure we have the tactical preparation down pat to not having that pressure and now concentrating on a different kind of pressure in an effort to secure the proper recruiting.
Eleven players have already left Fratton Park since the 2024–25 season ended, five were released after their contracts expired, and the six Blues loan players have already returned to their parent clubs.
Pompey will stay at PO4 for the 2025–2026 season after exercising the options in the contracts of Andre Dozzell and Zak Swanson. New terms have also been offered to Ben Killip.
