Huddersfield Town and the ‘criminal’ mistakes that saw miserable run extended at Exeter City
As HUDDERSFIELD TOWN lost for the fifth time in a row in League One, manager Jon Worthington felt his squad
was at the mercy of a significant decision.
Josh Koroma gave the Grecians the lead with a beautiful goal in the 20th minute, and Ilmari Niskanen completed a
brilliant play to tie the score. Jack McMillan and Andrew Oluwabori’s goals in the second half clinched the well-
earned triumph.
Shortly after halftime, Herbie Kane’s brilliant volley was disallowed for offside, which Terriers interim head coach
Worthington felt hindered his team.
“We had chances, but in key moments of the game, when the chances came – Herbie Kane’s and Josh Koroma had
one as well – we didn’t get any luck, or we weren’t ruthless enough in those moments and then you get punished,”
said Worthington.
We simply weren’t good enough in the end because this league is all about set pieces, long throws, and handling stuff.
“Everyone has a function, but we are well aware that we are a little short in terms of height and box defence.
It is truly illegal when we give in because players are not in the proper positions because a lot of work is done behind
the scenes to ensure that people are in the right positions to defend that.
“We had periods again where we have done OK and looked OK but not taken chances. Things have gone against us
and ultimately you get punished and it’s very disappointing.
“I’m the only one who is more hurt than you if you come to Exeter and lose like that. It’s really, really disappointing.”
