With the possibility of a loan or a permanent transfer, Huddersfield Town is in the lead to recruit Crystal Palace full-

back Danny Imray this summer.

The Terriers have undoubtedly had an outstanding start. The current window has demonstrated their desire to

return to the Championship as quickly as possible by making significant offers, outbidding rivals for coveted talent,

and putting together a team for their new manager that would rival a division mainstay.

So far this summer, Lee Grant has seen eight new players join his squad ahead of the 2024/25 campaign. They’ve

addressed issues across the pitch that hampered them last term, leaving them, now, with just one or two areas to

focus on.

Huddersfield targeting Crystal Palace youngster Danny Imray

Alan Nixon claims that Huddersfield is after a right-back and has Imray in their sights. The 21-year-old had a

successful debut in the football league with Bromley, an EFL newcomer, going into the summer. Last season, he

participated in 39 games for the London-based team and personally contributed to six goals.

Therefore, it should come as no surprise that Imray is being pursued by numerous League One teams throughout

current window. Town supporters will be pleased to learn that they are supposedly in the lead for the Palace child.

According to Nixon, negotiations between the two parties have begun. A journalist from The Sun claims that while

Huddersfield would be willing to sign Imray on loan, purchasing him from the Premier League team is also a

possibility.

Midway through his time at Bromley, Wycombe Wanderers made a similar bid for the 21-year-old, but the

Chairboys’ parent club turned down their offer.

Right-back/wing-back is certainly one of the positions that isn’t up to par compared to the rest of Grant’s squad.

Given the signings he has made this summer, it’d be safe to assume that the ex-goalkeeper’s long-term vision is to

utilise a back-three system with more advanced players either side of the central pillars, a role which would suit

Imray down to the ground.

That’s how Bromley used him the last time out. For someone in his position, he spent a lot of time in the box, so it’s

not surprising that he produced as many significant opportunities as he did.

Despite his defensive prowess, it’s obvious that his greatest strength lies forward rather than back.

Of course, if he decides to transfer to Huddersfield or another League One team, it will be interesting to see how well

he can adjust to the third division. The indications are that he might adapt to the necessary changes to succeed,

particularly if he joined a team as strong as Huddersfield’s.
