Huddersfield Town launch move for Birmingham City midfielder who made 35 League One appearances in 2024/25.

Huddersfield Town is having a very ambitious summer. Lee Grant is aiming for the League One title in 2025/26, and after missing out on the play-offs last season, they are making moves in the transfer market to prepare for the next season.
It’s just over a week until the third and fourth tiers kick off, with Huddersfield hosting Leyton Orient at home on August 2, and there is hope that another new face will walk through the doors at the John Smith’s Stadium before then. Lynden Gooch has already signed with the Terriers, and Alfie May could soon join Grant in West Yorkshire.
However, he is not the only Birmingham City player who could be wearing blue and white stripes in League One soon.
Huddersfield Town pursue deal for Marc Leonard
The Blues had a record-breaking season in 2024/25, but they are rapidly strengthening this summer, putting Marc Leonard in an awkward position.

After 35 League One appearances last season, the Scottish midfielder finds himself further down the pecking order at St. Andrew’s this summer, and Huddersfield are interested in signing him, according to Pete O’Rourke.
The 23-year-old has a lot of potential, and Chris Davies may want to keep him for that reason alone, but given Birmingham’s ambitions, he could fall behind in the coming years.
Leonard only joined Blues from Brighton & Hove Albion a year ago, but the Terriers are working hard to build a team capable of replicating the West Midlands club’s success from the previous season.
Marc Leonard is the perfect signing for the Terriers
Huddersfield fans have expressed concerns about the transfer policy, with a focus on strengthening the defence in the early stages of the window.
However, Leonard is the ideal player to fill the midfield after a season where the Terriers lacked creativity at times. He scored five goals and six assists for Birmingham in 2024/25, and scored five goals and six assists for Northampton Town the previous season.
He had four assists for Birmingham in 2024/25, after scoring five goals and providing six assists for Northampton Town the previous season.
Leonard will be more of a threat in the final third if he is played in a more advanced role than his previous holding position, and Grant may have found the perfect player to help ensure a top six finish.
