Huddersfield Town may finally be beaten in the transfer market as League One rivals push for Stoke City star
Huddersfield Town has dominated the transfer market thus far this summer, but they might be on the verge of losing
to Stockport County in the competition for a quality striker.
Most neutrals would agree that Huddersfield are the side to beat in League One in 2025/26, after Lee Grant has
created a third division super team.
Signing the likes of Ryan Ledson, Marcus Harness, and most recently the capture of Alfie May have really got people
excited about the Terriers.
However, Grant may well be disappointed in his pursuit of one of the EFL’s most coveted attackers, with Stockport
County appearing to nudge ahead in the race for his signature.
Stockport County emerge as serious contenders for Nathan Lowe
We have been discussing Nathan Lowe’s fate all summer long. Stoke had to make a decision about the young player
following his stellar League Two campaign, and it appears they have chosen to allow him to go out on loan once
more.
The latest report on Lowe’s predicament comes from Alan Nixon, with allegations that we essentially have a two-
horse race between Huddersfield and Stockport presently.
According to reports, Stoke City and the player will now decide which option is better for the upcoming season, with
both parties getting ready to pitch Lowe on their potential uses.
One interesting caveat is that Stoke have been somewhat deterred by Huddersfield’s eagerness to sign Lowe, with the
Terriers even willing to pay big money to sign him permanently. Stoke do not want to sell as they rate Lowe so
highly.
It is now thought Stockport are the “leading rivals” for the signing.
Nathan Lowe would be wise to choose Stockport County

where he would be the main man in attack.
At his age, there’s little point in Lowe putting himself in a position where he’s having to fight for his place. Of course,
having that competition for game time can have a positive effect mentally, but the thing Lowe needs more than
anything right now is consistent minutes.
| Statistics | Nathan Lowe in 2024/25 |
| Games | 40 |
| Minutes | 2,779 |
| Goals | 19 |
| Assists | 7 |
It’s not like he would be joining a poor side in Stockport, however. We have chosen Stockport to contend for
promotion once more in our League One predictions for this season.
Dave Challinor might do even better and win the 2025–2026 playoffs with Lowe in the lineup.
