Wakefield Trinity’s DIY Kitchens Stadium is set to stage the city’s biggest ever boxing show with an exciting card topped off by a title fight for home boy Dom Hunt.
Tickets are currently on sale for ‘Trilogy at Trin’, which will take place on the pitch on Saturday, July 12.
The event will be headlined by Hunt vs. James Moorcroft for the famous WBA European Super Welterweight title, with a full undercard of exciting match-ups including top local and national talent.
With Wakefield quickly becoming a hub of boxing talent, it is only natural to put on a spectacular event that will draw a large crowd eager to cheer on the local boys in action.
Top of the card is Wakefield pro Hunt, who has worked his way up the ranks and seems poised for a great bout if his past two fights with Wigan’s Moorcroft are any indication.
The two fighters fought to a draw in a Commonwealth and English championship eliminator last December, then met again in March, as history repeated itself.
It was another tie, however many commentators put Hunt down as the winner. However, it was a close encounter, and these two evenly matched opponents will face off again at ‘Trilogy at Trin’, where thrills are guaranteed.
Hunt now has a professional record of 16 victories, one defeat, and two draws with Moorcroft.
He is overjoyed to be headlining a major event in his hometown, stating, “Absolutely ecstatic to be fighting on the pitch, in a stadium show in my hometown for a WBA title.
“It will be the proudest moment of my career to play in front of a home crowd for the first time as a professional.” Thank you to everyone who has made this possible; it’s going to be an absolutely incredible night.”
During his second draw with Moorcroft at Bolton Stadium, he expressed gratitude on social media: “Thought I did more than enough to get the win (again), but rather than dwell on the negatives, I just want to say a huge thank you to everyone who spent their hard earned money to come and support. “The atmosphere nearly blew the roof off of the arena and it was a pleasure to fight in front of such an amazing crowd, thank you all so much. “Feel like I should have a new belt to add to the collection.”
