‘I fully believe’ – Ipswich Town boss makes honest Liam Delap transfer admission amid Everton interest

Liam Delap leaving Ipswich Town during the summer transfer window is not a given, according to Kieran McKenna.

Following a 3-0 defeat at Newcastle United last weekend, the Tractor Boys were relegated from the Premier League. This indicates that all three of the Championship’s promoted teams have immediately fallen back to earth.

As they get ready for life in the second division, Ipswich may have to fight to keep some of their players. With 12 goals in 33 league games this season, Delap has been the Portman Road team’s lucky charm. Even though he only paid up to £20 million to join the Tractor Boys from Manchester City last summer, he might be moving. According to reports, his current deal has a £30 million release clause.

The England under-21 player has been linked to a number of teams as David Moyes plans his transfer strategy, including Everton. It has also been reported that teams like Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool, and Newcastle United are interested.

Although nothing has been determined regarding Delap’s future, Ipswich manager McKenna, who will lead his relegated team to Goodison Park on Saturday, believes he has the potential to play for “one of the biggest clubs in the world.”

“I don’t know who it would be accepted by, because that’s not by myself or Ipswich,” McKenna stated via TWTD prior to Newcastle’s loss. Liam is still focused on getting as much out of the season as he can.

As I’ve stated previously, I believe there’s a good chance he’ll play for Ipswich the following season. I don’t believe anyone has made a decision. However, is it possible for Liam to play for the biggest clubs in the nation and the world? Of course he can. I think that’s true.

“At the Premier League level, he has already demonstrated his impact on a club that has been battling for everything. At this level, I believe he can make a remarkable influence. Here, he’s content and growing up rather nicely. He is capable. I believe he will accomplish some truly amazing things in his career.

This summer, Everton is expected to be looking for a striker. Dominic Calvert-Lewin will leave the club as things are. There has been no deal made, and his contract expires in June. At the moment, Calvert-Lewin is recuperating from a severe hamstring injury. Although the 27-year-old’s tenure at Everton has been mixed, he got off to a respectable start when Moyes rejoined the team as manager. Before getting hurt during a 1-0 victory over Brighton, Calvert-Lewin scored in a 3-2 victory over Tottenham Hotspur.

Even though Beto scored five goals in seven games during his second stint as manager of the Blues, he has now gone eight games without scoring.

During his time on loan from Chelsea, Armando Broja has suffered from numerous injuries. There haven’t been many opportunities to see his abilities when he’s fit. Everton is very unlikely to use their option to sign Broja on a long-term basis. Yussef Chermiti, however, is only 20 years old and has never played in the Premier League.

Delap might be given the opportunity to play regular football at Everton’s brand-new, cutting-edge stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock. At the age of 22, Delap has only played in the Premier League for a complete year and is still somewhat inexperienced. He has plenty of time to move again in the future.

Romelu Lukaku scored 87 goals in 166 games over his four years at Everton from 2013 to 2017 before earning a £75 million transfer to Manchester United, which Everton can point.
