A day filled with emotion for Greg Taylor

Playing against his former team and being reinstated in the starting lineup at the expense of left-back Jeffrey Schlupp, who was on loan, made it an emotional day for Greg Taylor.

With his contract coming to an end and no resolution in sight, Taylor himself will be able to determine whether this is one of his final games as a Celtic player at Paradise.

Although Taylor has not been among the club’s top earners since joining from Kilmarnock in the 2019 summer transfer window, Celtic wants him to stay, and Brendan Rodgers has previously made it clear that the issue is not financial.

Naturally, that would mean that Jeffrey Schlupp would not receive a new contract offer, and Rodgers was eager to emphasize during the Hearts match a few weeks ago that any move involving the Crystal Palace loanee would occur later.

Since Taylor’s contract expires in the summer, Schlupp may be aware that Greg Taylor’s choice will have a direct impact on his own prospects of landing a long-term deal at Celtic.
