‘I’d like to’ – EFL boss on future of Stoke City loan man amid new transfer links

Despite fresh ties to Wigan Athletic, Blackpool’s manager Steve Bruce has stated that they still want to sign Stoke

City loanee Niall Ennis this summer.

At the end of the season, Stoke City will have to decide what to do with the striker. In June 2026, his contract with

SCFC comes to an end.

Football League World has reported that Ennis, 25, has been linked to a move to Wigan Athletic. Under new

manager Ryan Lowe, the Latics will be looking to add some players.

“The move had done him the world of good and put him back in the spotlight, and he’s scored a few goals for us,”

Bruce stated in the most recent update, according to a report by Blackpool Gazette. If I could, I would like to keep

him, but we’ll see.

We must keep in mind that he is Stoke’s property, so let’s see what we can work out if a deal can be reached. I believe

he is simply enjoying his stay here, but we must return Stoke first. I will speak with him in the coming week or two to

find out his ideas.

Stoke City loan latest regarding Niall Ennis

Ennis will return from Blackpool, and Stoke City will need to decide what to do with him next. If SCFC doesn’t sell

him in January or the upcoming window, they run the chance of losing him for nothing the following year.

He has seen success since switching to Blackpool, which has placed him in the spotlight. It is hardly surprising that

they wish to sign him permanently given that he has six goals in 14 appearances.

He was temporarily signed by the Tangerines in January after Kyle Joseph left for Hull City. In order to receive

greater playing time, he was allowed to leave the Potters.

Ennis rose up through the ranks at Wolves and had loan spells at Shrewsbury Town, Doncaster Rovers and Burton

Albion to get experience. He then joined Plymouth Argyle in 2020.

What next for Niall Ennis at Stoke City?

Wigan Athletic’s head coach Lowe worked with Ennis at Plymouth Argyle. He was a key player during his time at

Home Park and scored 24 goals in 97 matches.

He was moved to the Championship as a result of his performance, but his experiences at Stoke City and Blackburn

Rovers haven’t gone well. Recently, he has demonstrated his abilities with Blackpool.

The Latics are now a rival of the Tangerines, but if they want to sign him on a full-time basis, they must do so. Stoke

City has the upper hand in this situation, and if they decide to let him go, they will want to receive the greatest deal.
